"As some of you will know I spent over 4 years living , working and running in South Africa. Whilst out there I had the privilege to help set up and run for the Klaserie Hawks , a running club based in the community where I lived. One of the big challenges for a lot of the runners out there is the cost of kit , particularly running shoes. A decent pair can cost around a months salary for someone working in an unskilled job. I am taking a brief trip back there at the end of February and thought that perhaps some of you may have a spare pair of road shoes in reasonably decent condition that you wouldn't mind passing on. Maybe they were just a tad too small or you never really got on with them. Any size will be fine we will definitely be able to find a good home for them and it doesn't matter if they've seen a bit of use so long as they have still got a bit of life in them. Probably the easiest way to pass them on would be leave them behind the bar for me to collect on a Thursday night. If your not a regular there, maybe you could pass them on to someone who is. I'll ask Rob to organise a box. Also it would be nice if you could label them with your name so I can let you know who they ended up with. I'm hoping to fill a suitcase with shoes . If you've got any questions or can't get to the club , drop me an email paul_mee |at| yahoo.co.uk and "we'll make a plan" , as they say in SA. The deadline for me to collect them would be Thursday Feb 18th as I fly out the following Saturday.
