Please do put the above date in your diary. The annual winter championships kicks off with our shortest race (on the road) of the season. We always get a good turn out from juniors and some track athletes as well. Make sure you're at the clubhouse well before 7pm in good time to register and collect a number, which will be essential for anyone competing, we will start very soon after 7pm due to failing light.
We need volunteers (at least 6) to help with timekeeping and marshalling. If we have insufficient volunteers on the night we will not be able to hold the event. Anyone who would like to come enjoy the racing from the sidelines - please offer your services by replying to this message or contacting me directly.
This is a great chance to see how you fare over the classic distance. The course record stood for a long time, held by Steve Mahon (who still trains on a Tuesday night at the club), from 1986, and was broken by Paul Martelletti in 2012 who completed the course in 4mins 22. [Paul also holds the club's beer mile record as of Saturday]
