September is nearly at and end - this week the last Thursday of the month rolls around, meaning it's time for the handicap once again.
We now move to the Winter short course on Well Street Common, three laps of the tarmac path perimeter, approximately 2.9 miles, so the action is fast, furious and also fun. For those new to the club, the handicap allows all members of all abilities to compete. It's also a good way of measuring your fitness, speed and progress of your training.
All club members are welcome and they may also bring guests to run. Get to the club house by 7pm to register and we will set off on the short walk to Well St shortly after. As usual, the club's excellent juniors will join us as well, we all run the same distance.
Afterwards, the bar should hopefully be open for some essential re-hydrating.
Volunteers needed As ever, the event cannot run without volunteers. Yes, I know I repeat this every month but they really are essential. We rely on each club member helping out at least a couple of times a year to make these events happen.
For the winter handicap we need at least three to help with timekeeping as runners cross the line and ideally we have 3-4 marshalling out on the course, since there are juniors running.. Please commit to help out at this or any other club event during the Winter season, it will be appreciated mean the event can go ahead. Please post here or contact Laura Morgan (women's captain) or me.
