Hog Hill on Tuesday 3rd October - Chingford League
Mon Sep 25, 2017 15:18

The winter season kicks on Tuesday 3rd October with the first race of the Chingford League. The league is a mixture of Road and Cross Country races. This Tuesday first race is a ROAD race, at the Redbridge Cycle Centre (Hog Hill) as per previous years.

The venue and facility is very good, the course is 5Km on an undulating tarmac surface and not illuminated so we rely somewhat on the London glow and the moon. It's a good race to start the season, as this fixture appears twice (we race there again in November as well). You'll need you road shoes (NOT your spikes), your club vest and some pins.

**We will give out numbers on the night - please write your name on top right hand corner / sign the club sheet with name/ age group - if you ran last year your name should be typed up already on the sheet - After the race hand back your number - we keep the numbers all season**

As with last season, the MEN and WOMEN will run separately for the Hog Hill fixtures (although together for the other fixtures). This is because the numbers have increased in recent years which causes a backlog at the finish.

Venue: Redbridge Cycling Centre ('Hog Hill').
Times:
Juniors U13: 7:15PM
Senior Women and Juniors U15/U17: 7:30PM, (~5km)
Senior Men Race 8:00PM, (~5km)

Travel:

By Tube: Best tube station is Fairlop which is on the Central line – Hainault branch approx. 30 mins tube ride from Liverpool Street tube station. When you arrive at Fairlop Tube, turn left out of tube, follow road - its about a 1.5 mile jog – entrance to Redbridge Cycling Centre is on right.

By Car: If anyone is travelling by car, please can they post it on the club noticeboard thread in order to share lifts - that will be very much appreciated. I suggest if you are driving, please don't leave the club any later than 6:30pm to get there in time for the senior women's race start.

Trophies 2016/2017:
The Senior Men’s team won last year with James Cordwell taking the Men’s trophy. The Vet Men narrowly missed out on a team prize as we were thin on numbers for the final relays. In previous years, the Senior and Vet Women have won the league along with age category individual prizes. For all races, we need six people minimum to score for both Senior and Vets teams – you can score for both and even if you are not in the top 6, your position will help us score better against other clubs. We should do well this year if we have a good turnout for Chingford League this season. The Chingford Leagues is made of East London clubs - there is a good mix of abilities with both fast and slower runners competing.

If you are injured or unable to run but would like to help with volunteer duties, please contact Major Carr, Sim or Joyce or sign up to Chingford League Facebook page and post there – marshalls and timekeepers are needed for Hog Hill on Tuesday 3rd October. Our Club hosts the February race so lots of volunteers will be needed then.

Please be aware that the club's main XC focus is the Metropolitan league and maintaining the Men's and Women's hard-fought positions in the top divisions. Club members are free to run in whichever leagues they choose but may want to prioritise Metropolitan league, if they are time pushed.
