Okay, YH is being a bit ambitious. Wanted to write a holiday story with a twist. The other stories will be worked on as well, but this will take a lot of my focus at the moment. The idea is you guys get at least one part everyday. Keep a close eye on dates, times, temperatures, and events. Told you I was being ambitious. I hope you guys enjoy, and thanks for the patience with the other stories - you have my word you'll see them all soon.

As always - Enjoy!!!!

Holiday Firsts – Part 1

Friday, November 26, 2004 – 11:28pm

Pollux Matthews shook her head and laughed slightly to herself as she walked off the elevator into the darkened apartment. “’I’m not working Thanksgiving Weekend. I’m taking it off.’ Sure big sister, you’re too much of a freaking work-aholic.” Pollux glanced around the well decorated New York City penthouse apartment. “And God I’m glad you are. I risk my life every day, and you get paid six times as much as me to manage rich people’s money. How is that fair?”
Pollux proceeded into the lavish kitchen and began searching through the refrigerator. “Why Pollux, would you like some turkey? Hell yes, I want some turkey, Pollux. And while you’re in there, can you grab the stuffing, potato salad, deviled . . .”
WHIFF . . . SMASH!!!!! Pollux pulled her head out of the refrigerator and turned her head seconds after hearing something rush past her ear and smash into the wall behind her. The definite sound of glass breaking was followed by the sound of liquid flowing. Pollux glanced at the bottle of red wine laying in pieces on the floor, then whipped her head back around to find a very pissed off Paige standing at the edge of the counter. Pollux cocked an eyebrow, “Paige, that’s alcohol abuse.”
“So not in the mood to play,” Paige growled.
Pollux shook her head, “Look, I’m sorry I had to leave in the middle of Thanksgiving dinner but I had a homicide in Queens. You know my job does that sometimes. It’s the nature of the beast of being a Crime Scene Investigator, just like you being a Finance Manager entails you working sixteen hour days sometimes.”
“I’m not pissed about Thanksgiving Dinner,” Paige advanced Pollux.
Pollux took a step back, “Then what the hell is your problem?”
Paige held up a folder, “Want to guess what this is.”
Pollux looked carefully at the object, then took a deep breath, “It’s a folder.”
Paige nodded, “Now I see that you’re good at your job. Care to venture a guess at what’s in it?”
Pollux shrugged, “Somebody’s millions of dollars worth of accounts?”
“No. I found this in your top desk drawer – and not the one in the office we share here either – the desk in your bedroom.”
“What were you doing in my . . .”
“Don’t change the subject. Tell me.”
Pollux slammed the refrigerator door, “You read the damn file, you tell me.”
“You found our birth parents.”
“No. I found our birth mother. I can’t find the father, no matter how hard I try.”
“Those records are sealed.”
“I had some favors that I called in. It wasn’t easy, and it’ll cost me, but I had to know.”
“And when were you planning on sharing this information with me?”
Pollux shrugged, “Hadn’t decided if I was or not.”
Paige threw the file at her, “I have a right to know!!”
“I can’t find enough information!”
“I want what you have – all of it! And don’t even try telling me this is it!! I know you better!!”
Pollux sighed, “Paige . . .”
“I’m not joking, here!! I buried Dad!! I buried Mom!! With your job, I may bury you!! I have a right!!!”
Pollux lowered her head. After a second, she reached inside her inside coat pocket and pulled out a folded up piece of paper. She handed it towards Paige, “There are four Patricia Halliwells in the San Francisco area. These are all the phone numbers. I’ve been trying to figure out how to call . . . what to . . . what to say, but . . .” she stopped and shook her head, “Maybe you can figure it out.”
Paige accepted the paper, treating it as if it were a thousand-year-old important document. “You should have told me sooner.”
“I didn’t want to see you hurt.”
“Me finding the folder like that hurt me.”
Pollux sighed, “I’m sorry. I was trying to . . . nevermind, it isn’t important.”
“You’ve been up for over thirty seven hours. You’ve been messing with dead bodies and evidence. Go to bed.”
“What are you . . .”
“Bed, Pollux. Go to bed now.”
“Paige, please. What are you going . . .”
“I don’t know yet. I’ll figure it out later.”
Pollux nodded, “If you need me, I’ll be in my room.”
Paige looked at emotionlessly at Pollux, “Just try and get some sleep, we’ll discuss this later.”
Pollux lowered her head and took off slowly down the hall towards her room. Paige watched her go, headed to the kitchen, opened a fresh bottle of wine, poured a glass, and headed into the living room. Paige laid the paper on the glass coffee table next to the cordless phone, sank back into the oversized couch, took a sip of wine, and thought very hard about what to do.

“Sam!” Patti smacked her husband’s hand as he snaked it around her waist and kissed the back of her neck.
“The girls are gone home.”
“Yes, they are. But Mother is upstairs in her bedroom.”
“Mother is walking into the kitchen for a snack to watch television,” Penny Halliwell informed as she walked past her daughter and son-in-law.
Sam smiled, “It’s time we came clean. Mrs. Halliwell, I’ve been sleeping with your daughter.”
Penny shook her head, “You’re lucky I like you, Samuel.”
He grinned, “You love me.”
“Don’t press your luck.”
Patti glared at Penny, “Mother . . .” she said warningly.
“That’s right – Mother. Let’s remember who is the Mother and who is the Child here.”
Patti shook her head, “You are incorrigible.”
“No. You two are incorrigible. If you were teenagers, I would have to turn the hose on you.”
“Well I’m glad we’re not teenagers,” Sam replied.
Penny shook her head, “Just know, she was never this affectionate with Victor, or . . .”
“Mother,” Patti’s warning tone was dead serious now.
Sam kissed the back of Patti’s neck, “I know about Victor. He’s no competition.”
Patti kissed him, “You’re right, he’s not.”
Sam started to return the kiss, but the phone rang. He sighed heavily and picked the receiver up, “Hello?” The line sounded dead for a moment, “Hello? Is anybody there?” Sam waited a moment or two, shrugged, started to hang up, and stopped when a barely audible voice came across the line.
“Can I . . . can I speak to Patricia Halliwell, please?”
“Sure thing,” Sam extended the phone towards his wife. She gave him a questioning look and all he could do was shrug, “Some girl.”
Patti took the phone, “Hello?”
“Is this . . . is this Patricia Halliwell?”
“Yes. Who is this?”
“Um, you’re the third one on my list. Is this . . . is this the Patricia Halliwell who gave two little girls up for adoption twenty-four years ago – one named Paige, one named Pollux?”
Patti went pale for a minute, then immediately came back with anger, “Who is this? What kind of joke are you playing?”
“Honey,” Sam questioned worriedly.
“I’m hanging up now!” Patti declared and started to put the phone back in it’s cradle.
“Wait!!” Paige’s voice cut through the line. “Please . . . please don’t be mad. I think . . . I think I’m your oldest daughter Paige.”
