I'm seeking decendents/living relatives of Ronald (or Ranald) MacDonald (born 1794) and his family that resided at Camus an Ruighe on the Ardnish Peninsula, south of Arisaig, at the time of the 1841 and 1851 Census. Ronald and his family emigrated to Australia on the "Medina" arriving in Adelaide, 10 October 1852.

I have recently joined the Clan Donald USA DNA Project, the results of which have shown that I share a very strong connection to an Australian resident who has a strong paper trail showing his decent from Ranald III of Kinlochmoidart, together with more distant connections to the decendants of MacDonald of Glenaladale, Bornish, and Achnancoichean (which makes logical sense considering the known historical connections between these family lines).

Unfortunately, my Australian family have until now shown little interest in our pre-emigrant history, and as a result I have nothing other than the above mentioned census results together with a number of baptismal entries in the records from St Joseph's at Arisaig.

I would greatly appreciate any information or assistance that anyone my offer.

All the best,
