The above link brings you to the Land Petitions at the Nova Scotia Archives. I typed in Prince Edward Island and then chose All for counties - and I got 11 pages of land petitions from 1806 to 1843 that have Prince Edward Island in the description. Most of these are people who left PEI for Nova Scotia to get land. They are Scots and French and others. If anything, they make wonderful reading but you may find more information for your family research.

You can search by last name and all petitions with that name come up - from NSARM microfilm. Search using the different spellings of a name and search by word - like Moydart and Moidart - or name given to someone's home.

I just put in Broad Cove and got 139 petitions.

There's the usual confusion with the folks with the same first and last names.
