Seal cull to save salmon
Tue Sep 4, 2018 1:22pm

It is not unconscionable to kill seals who have a right to be because we have destroyed and degraded salmon habitat and mismanaged fisheries to the point where there is reportedly not enough for the seals and stock recovery?

Would it not be more humane to let the seals live and stop fishing until the stocks are recovered?

Just wondering who we will kill after the seals if the stocks do not recover- those pesky great blue heron? a few mergansers and some tufted puffins, maybe.

Meanwhile there is another development and other strip mall and another gigantic house going up in my watershed. We were told at a Climate Change Adaptation Planning meeting there is more than 800,000 sq metres of Marine oriented warehousing and storage on sensitive habitat in Richmond and Delta planned.

Killing seals, paving watersheds, building at the tide line do no make sense to me. How about you?
