I've talked with him once before, such a pleasant man. I guess he thought we may have made a second printing, but that's not the case, I just simply forgot the correct amounts we had printed, 100 hard-covers just seems so small of an amount.
My publisher and I were late in learning about Bob's business so he did not receive as many hard-covers as he would have liked. He told me he could have sold all 100 copies pretty quickly. As it is they did sell fast but that was done basically by a non-budget publicity campaign.
Being a descendant and historian I have continued to research Soapy Smith since publishing my book. I find new information on a weekly basis so I have plenty for a second edition but book sales are down everywhere and Soapy is just not well known, although he should be. That all may change if the film The Floor of Heaven becomes a reality. I am working with the screenplay writer, Scott Silver. Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid worked for the Wild Bunch so The Floor of Heaven could work out well for Soapy.
