I've been informed, and am passing the information on to all of you, of the simultaneous publication of two books by Westernlore Press in Tucson, Arizona. The books will be available sometime around the end of the year. The first book by Lynn R. Bailey is titled "The Cowboys: Rustling, Smuggling, and Murder Along the Arizona Border, 1878-1890." The second book by Randy Farmer is titled "Curly Bill: Horse Thief, Cattle Dealer, Murderer, Lawman, 1858-1909." I'm told this will be a two volume set in a printing of 1,500 hardbound books of each title. From the publisher; "Randy Farmer's book is the best study that I have read detailing the roots of the culture of lawlessness that swept West Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona in the late 1870s and early 1880s. The story of Curly Bill is convoluted, yet fascinating. He had a much more successful life than Wyatt Earp." I can't wait for these two important and highly anticipated books to become available!

Success is different things to different people. I never, in my book, said that Bill Brosius was more successful than Earp...although I could see how people could see it that way. Bill was always... more

wondering what new evidence you have to substantiate the claim that Curly Bill survived Wyatt and was still alive in 1909? My Best. David
        • EvidenceRandolph W. Farmer, Wed Jul 25 17:00
He died in 1909. As far as evidence, you have to look at all the evidence - in its entirety. The new information in the Westernlore book adds more evidence. Forest, trees, then the leaves.

      • I suppose being the best rustler one can be would make Ma Barker proud, but I will be interested to see what criteria are found in the book. Wyatt ended up without a pot of money, without a marshal's ... more

Perhaps a better way of saying it would have been "Outliving when Wyatt said he did". I was trying to type it out on my phone on the way to work, on a bus without my morning coffee. Truly not at my... more

but what is this Curly Bill 1909 (and cattle "dealer")? My Best. David
    • David, I think that you will enjoy Randy's work. I have had the E version for about a year and it is extremily well done. The Hardback will be fully footnoted etc. ( a difficulty with the E version). ... more

I don't think he is going to be able to sell me on Curly Bill living until 1909 and surviving Tombstone/Wyatt and especially on having a "more successful life" than Wyatt. In particular, if one takes ... more

the book may be inaccurate? Interesting, unfortunately in just about every book there are inaccuracies...don't you think? Kevin

interesting that the author (or Amazon) is pushing a debunked urban legend and myth regarding that tower idiot. It would not have taken much effort by either of them to realize that this part of the... more
