Both of you have done much footwork, and for this we readers are grateful. Nobody could be doing it for fame or fortune, but from a genuine interest in and curiosity about the characters, and the history.

Unfortunately books were cancelled, yet much have entailed much research and new information have not seen the light of day. These include Steve Gatto’s and Casey Tefertiller’s, and we are yet to see Robert Buckey’s or Kenny’s.

Maybe some researchers go too far on false leads, and then get stuck with a narrative they pursue. Only in the case of Boyer would I say there was deliberate deception.

But I am just a reader and I think that letter from Harper to Curly Bill Brocius indicates that was his real name - I can’t think Harper would do this to fool anyone, so this does somewhat support Randy’s hypothesis. But a photo of Bill Graham with a mutilatrd jaw would require a rethink.
