"The McLaury Bros and Clantons knew all about Holliday being in the attempted robbery where Philpot was killed and accused the Earps of being in on it also and knowing all about it shealding [sic] Holliday, and after Spence and Stillwell [sic] were arrested they threatened to tell all they knew about it. (About Sept. 10, 1881)
"I remember Virge coming to me and telling me that Tom McLaury had said they were going to kill every one of us connected with the arrest and advising me to kill any of them I met on sight. I paid no attention to his talk but the same day rode with McLaury to his ranch in Sulphur Springs Valley on my way to Galeyville....."
