I live in a forest. On top of a ridge (4,000) feet. The last time it burned was in '29'. An old timer described it to me. Basically I reside on my potential funeral pyre given the "right" conditions. And it could sweep up hill very quickly. Given the visibility problem whereby smoke could occlude my knowing which direction is the fire moving, I could be trapped. So, I dug out a 6 foot hole with 6 foot diameter and had a steel roof put over it with an entry. But I am way behind getting it covered with three feet of soil. It's my bolt if I can finish it. Of course earthquakes are forever a potential.
