Almost any protest will be "divisive" to some degree, since the goal of a protest is to cause something to change. There will almost inevitably be people who are opposed to the change, and will feel divided from the protestors.

But a protest which is held for the purpose of dividing the population into antagonistic groups is self defeating. It actually generates more opposition to the change you want to achieve.

A protest which is held for the purpose of being divisive is likely, IMO, NOT being done in order to achieve the stated change. It is anarchistic.
