I do not see where or why you came up with the "familiarity breeds contempt" part of it though. I don't believe that has any part in what I was referring to. Familiarity might breed COMPLACENCY, in feeling safe on one's "home turf" when there's perhaps a reason not to feel safe from things unknown or unnoticed because of a relaxation of normal security precautions... but contempt? That means that the people grow scornful of things as they become more familiar with them and therefore, they become very familiar with the flaws & shortcomings of whomever or whatever they are too familiar with. HOW on earth does that even REMOTELY fit the situation we're talking about??
