An interesting example of a change

in how the US is referred to that I think is part of the problem....

Note how the author refers to the United States as a plural.

The United States have... The United States are...

And refers to states ALMOST like individual nations...

IMO trying to force the US into a homogenous singular entity is one of the many reasons we are having some of the problems we are.

If we truly limit the federal gov't as the founders intended and allowed the states the variety that they want, Americans would not feel constrained by a NATION that was seen as either too far left or to far right... They could pick and choose where they live WITHIN that nation based on what STATE provides them the environment they desire most.
