span the globe, and he has deliberately not only NOT divested from direct control of them, but HIDDEN his financial history and tax returns, I think it is a valid request.

There are strong suspicions that he is financially entangled with Russia as well as a known money-laundering German bank, and more to where this matters.

If it was just to humiliate or damage the POTUS, whomever it was, then I'd question the reasoning. But there are SEVERAL good reasons why limited members of Congress should be able to see them.
