T&T edged in final warm up.
Issued By Shaun Fuentes, TTFF Press Officer.

Trinidad and Tobago got some much needed match practice with the majority of team players on Sunday as they went down 1-0 to Haiti on a bumpy Shaw Park surface.
The Haitians got a 19th minute penalty when Birmingham City’s Dwight Yorke was adjudged to have taken Bruny Pierre’s legs inside the penalty box and Peter Germain converted, hitting to the right of goalkeeper Shaka Hislop.
The match result was far from what the “Warriors” would have hoped for going into Wednesday’s 2006 World Cup qualifier against the United States, but coach Bertille St Clair refused to cry down the team mere days before the Ash Wednesday showdown.
“I don’t think it by any means appropriate to come down on the guys at this stage because we really used this match as a final one to allow some of the guys to get a feel of each other. You realized that players like Jones and Andrews were playing after just coming off the plane, so in many ways we got what we were looking for from this game,” St Clair told TTFF Media.
“But again, no one likes to lose but I am saying that it’s maybe better it happens now because we have a way in which one day we are up and next day we are down so hopefully we will be on the rise going into Wednesday’s game,” he added.
Yorke started alongside starting captain Stern John and Scott Sealy but it was the Haitians who kicked of with fire as Jhonny Descollines shot just wide of the right post from inside the six yard box after just two minutes. Six minutes later it was Romulus Turlien’s turn to see his effort come off the cross bar following a left side ball.
T&T took some time to find momentum and it wasn’t until the 26th minute that John had a close range attempt stopped by goalkeeper Luidgi Beauzile.
Cadet Eliphene then sent a header inches wide in the 31st and had another effort saved by Hislop nearing the break.
St Clair introduced Angus Eve, Atiba Charles, Anton Pierre, Cornell Glen and promising Tobago-born midfielder Devon Leacock during the second half but the Haitians were desperate to hold on to their lead. Yorke didn’t see too much of the goal but earned points for effort on the afternoon.
As the minutes ticked away, T&T searched for the equalizer. Pierre had a airborne right footer well pushed out by the ‘keeper in the 65th minute and Charles reached high up for a header which needed better direction. Eve too had a close shot on goal but with the ‘keeper alone to beat, his shot lacked power from a tight angle on the right of goal.
Leslie Fitzpatrick, Anthony Rougier, Denzil Theobald, Marvin Andrews, Derek King and Brent Sancho all saw action for the “Warriors”.
