You are correct it does show Tanner's name after Rogers in Harry Phanzs Gettysburg "The Second Day"

In Jeffrey Jones new book "marching to Save a Nation" Tanner is never mentioned and Rogers is only cited regarding his after action report.

In all that I have read I have never heard Rogers was wounded nor Tanner took command of the 123d.

What do you state that "Tanner took command???"

    Why did Capt. Tanner take command of the 123rd NY at GB from Lt. Col. Rogers? I see no evidence of wounds to Rogers, yet most OOB's list Tanner in command after Rogers. Thanks
