Incredible story, and I look forward to reading the book.
Thanks for the posting. I was out of the field at the time of the incursion, but recall the radio traffic and garbled messages on our guys in Cambodia. We at BMB never got much information, just that they were in the thickest contact anyone in the 199th had experienced since 1968. I guess the men who were there knew what had happened, but didn't want to talk about it and the rest of us had to keep on with our own jobs. The result was a combination of silence by some and vague awareness of missing something by the rest. So my thanks to Mr. Gouge for finally filling in the gap.

Great story, and pretty much the same recollections that were told to me when I landed at FSB Brown the next day. For accuracy, Gorske was actually not flying a UH-1, But an OH-58A. No big deal there.
