Revision Hip replacement
Mon Jun 3, 2013 7:58am

Hello! I had a total hip replacement 20 years ago after a bicycle accident. I have been very active since surgery but lately experiencing pain in the thigh.
I thought of something while swimming this morning.

1. In the revision hip surgery, why does the surgeon have to cut the femur open just because the femur rod is loose?

3. Why can't the surgeon drill a hole and inject cement into the femur so it will set and the rod won't move?

Thank you
