All good news about my THR
Wed Apr 27, 2016 9:00am

I stumbled onto this site while researching approved exercises and sports activities for those with total hip replacements. Whenever I get the chance, I post my own positive experiences with THR for those who are facing a replacement with less than total enthusiasm. In my own case, I had WAY little enthusiasm, since I'd researched the nuts and bolts of the procedure and it scared the hell out of me.

To make this story short, I had my left hip replaced in 2009. No problems at all. Not even one. The pain was no worse than having my teeth cleaned, if that. The stitches stung a bit, and my muscles were sore for awhile, but nothing worse than that. Within just a couple of months, I had to stop and think whenever someone asked which hip I'd had replaced, because I could feel no difference at all.

As long as you follow your Doctor's and physical therapist's
orders to the letter, you should be fine. And finally, I'll repeat the advice I heard often from other THR patients, and which I now swear by; ... "I wish I'd done it sooner."
