HOUSTON (AP) — The U.S. Supreme Court has refused appeals from two Texas death row inmates, including a Mexican national condemned for fatally shooting a security guard outside a Houston nightclub in 1994.
The high court, without comment Tuesday, declined to review the case of 35-year-old Felix Rocha. The Mexican man was 18 when he was arrested for the slaying of 32-year-old Raphael Fuentes. Rocha confessed to police that he was seeking revenge because of a previous fight with Fuentes.
The justices also have turned down the appeal of 28-year-old Beunka (Bee-UN'-kuh) Adams. He was sentenced to die for fatally shooting a disabled man, Kenneth Vandever, in 2002 during a convenience store robbery in Rusk, in East Texas.
Two women working at the store were abducted and shot. One was raped.
