One of the wonderful things about reading this forum is the variety of suggestions that come forth.
On the subject of machine cane and glue, I buy and use carpenter's wood glue on all machine cane. I never use hyde glue after having removed it from numerous jobs. Who can say they like that sticky mess produced by hyde glue? I have replaced cane that I have done before and carpenter's glue is no problem. Jobs that I have done that came loose were those done by other caners who have used white glue. As you all admit, white glue is easier to remove, could that be the reason it doesn't hold as well as carpenter's glue?
