I'm one of those people that likes using Hide glue. I use it when I do veneer jobs. I also like using it when I'm doing a restoration job for customers it is an option they have. I also use white glue and yellow glue. I don't recommend white glue and I don't have any trouble getting old splines out that have had yellow glue used. I have had chairs were the person before me must have poured the glue in the groove. Then squeezed the excess out when they pressed in the spline and I had a solid groove of glue to dig out. That is when I hate yellow glue. I've had chairs were people used Loctite contact cement to try and repair a pressed cane seat chair that had popped out of the groove that was a pain and yes I had some one put a spline in using Loctite that was a BIGGER PAIN. But yes I do like using Hide Glue I use titebond liquid hide glue and Behlen Ground Hide Glue.
