Mical Wilmoth Carton has had a lot of experience doing those double-sided chairs and has posted here about them many times. Do a Search here for her posts on blind caning and double-sided cane and staining them.

  As Cathryn said, I've had experience with this, along with others on this list. #1 - If the cane needs to be stained (inside and out), it must be colored before the caning is done. Ritt dye works... more
