round rush seats

I have received a chair that has a cane back and a round rush seat. how do I rush this chair bottom. there is 8 screws on the bottom that forms a cross. I have finished the back, but an puzzles by the bottom. how do I keep the rush from slidding?

    Loxie, My advice was going to be the same as Dan's, use a rasp, small triangle shaped file or just a utility knife and cut some grooves along the round parts just before the "corners" so the rush... more

    I'd probably use the sharp edge of a file to create some "training" channels for the rush to sit in. Creating these small indentations gives the rush somewhere to sit until the next row snugs up... more

      i have used small clamps to hold the last row of rush on all sides. worked fine for me.
