The 5th Annual Gathering of The SeatWeavers' Guild®, Inc. is coming up this weekend at Eagle, Wisconsin. We have a record number of registrations this year, which is fantastic. We are eager to see everyone again and swap stories and knowledge!
http://TheSeatWeaversGuild.org/gatherings/2012-promo-flyerA new tentative schedule is going up on the website now. But those of you that are attending, remember to bring along some chairs with woven seats to enter into our 3rd Annual Chair Seating Exhibit called, "Chair Seating: Over, Under, Around and Through." Don't leave home without at least one, if you have room in your car.
We will be dealing primarily with the intracacies of the seven step method of chair caning this time, with the theme being,
“Traditional 7 Step Caning:Exploring Advanced Challenges”.
Besides individual chair seat weaving demonstrations by our members to the public, we will also be weaving a Lincoln rocker for Old World Wisconsin's museum, and having short caning workshops for the public and member attendees. Lots of public interaction this year, which suits us just fine, follows right along with our purpose and mission statement.
There will be our usual Meet 'n Greet on Friday night and workshops, presentations and our annual corporation meeting and dinner for members.
And there will also be an special outing to visit nearby East Troy Basketry Shop in East Troy, WI for those attendees that would like to go see a real cane and basket shop up close and personal.
Looking forward to a great weekend with our "peeps," drive safely and we'll keep the light on for you. Until next time, Happy Weaving!
