I attended a fund-raiser show for a local historical society and they had a man there demonstrating how to weave chairs. Looked interesting. I was working away from home, living in a hotel, in Silicon Valley. Needed something to do when not working. I saw an article about Berkeley Caning shop that mentioned classes. So, I signed up for hand weaving and then for rush. I just did my own chairs for a couple years until a friend who owned an antique store asked me to do some chair backs for her. After that, word of mouth brought me more business than I wanted. Now the only problem is that I am winding down due to age and arthritus and I have accumulated at least thirty chairs to "work on someday". Does anyone want free project chairs?
