Close weave seat
Wed Oct 12, 2016 8:30am

Hi weavers,
I have a British colonial chair which has one continuous piece of medium close weave cane for seat and back, it is 45 inches long. And 26 wide. The top has pulled out and there is not enough cane left to reattach it. The cane is stapled and covered with a 1/2 inch flat oval reed all along the perimeter.. There is no groove, the reed is attached with nails.
My question is about the right close weave to use.
Frank's has 3 choices that are wide enough. : med reed with reed on both sides (I don't know what that means), med close weave, and 3mm herringbone. Which one will be stronger and not pull out of the staples?
Thanks for any advice.
