extra charges

Hello Darlene
I used to have the questions you are having right now. I usually tell the customer that I do not refinish or re glue chairs. If it is just a small repair my husband will do it and usually charges around $10.00. I also tell them I do not stain the new cane I have just woven in the seat or put in (sheet cane) or I don't put any finish on my fiber rush or splint seats. I haven't had any objections as they are so glad they have found someone to do the work. I do wash the seat after I take the cane out and if there is a sharp edge I do file it to make it softer so the cane will not break. That is all in my caning charge. I charge $1.45 per hole or 21 cents a square inch for the cane web. As I'm in northern Canada all my charges are in Canadian funds. Hope this helps a bit. As for storage I have a large garage/shop and if the chairs are here for any length of time they go out there. I don't charge extra for that.

I forgot to mention that I do have a minimum charge of $45.00 so if a pressed cane seat is small and less than $45.00 with my 21 cents a square inch they get charged the $45.00. I tell the customer... more
