Wicker chair question
Mon Apr 24, 2017 10:07pm

Greetings, all -
A friend of mine offered to give me this chair, if I'd be interested in it as a project chair. Otherwise, she's going to donate it somewhere.

I have only done the most basic of wicker wrapping on some chairs for another pal and have never done any weaving. These pix are all I know about the chair and I wonder if you can discern enough to tell me
* a novice could learn enough to repair the weave without spending an inordinate amount of time doing so, or
* a chair like this is best tackled by someone with several easier projects under their belt already, or
* impossible to determine (!)

Also if you have info about this type of chair, my pal would love to know. She just knows it's quite old and has been in her family a long time.

Here are the images:

Thanks for any guidance you provide me.

      Hi Laurie, You'll have to remove the wicker braid which is covering lots of staples. The back and sides were woven as separate panels and then stapled to the frame. This is not a very old wicker... more
