Pressed Cane alignment

I am placing Pressed Cane(machine cane) into a number of rectangular panels which will be inserted into cabinets and doors. The customer wants the cane to align PERFECTLY along the boarders. All of the panels need to look identical.

Does anyone have any tricks to get the cane lined up so it won’t shift when it is being pressed into the groove.

I would appreciate any help. Thanks.

I had to a large sofa back once and it drove me nuts it was just about 80” or so. I don’t know if it’s possible for you , but I stapled it in place first.. And then I glued in the spline. So at this... more
