The 12th annual Gathering and Annual Meeting of The SeatWeavers' Guild, Inc® (TSWG) will be held in Glenn, Michigan on July 26-28, 2019.


We hope to see all our members there for the weekend and non-members too for the public events on Sunday! Time to register for this event is ending soon. Don't miss this great event, get your registration in before July 1st, do it today!

FridayRegistration and meet 'n greet will take place on Friday in Fennville, MI.

Saturday Features: The Glenn Community Center 9am to 5 pm

Medallion Cane methods – Suzan Diaz will do a talk about putting in a medallion cane back. Suzan has given workshops in medallions for us in the past and puts together a very informative workshop on this very artsy side of seat weaving.

Challenging Medallion Backs--Bill Brick has agreed to talk about one of his more challenging medallion cane backs, the one we are using for our Gathering logo for 2019.

Dying Reed - Sue Muldoon will do a workshop on dying reeds to add some creativity to your splint seat weaving.

Danish Cord--Mical Wilmoth Carton will do a workshop on Danish cord weaving, her specialty weave and is always a welcome workshop at our gatherings

Hand-twisted Cattail and Bulrush Seatweaving--Cathryn Peters will give a talk and demonstrate weaving seats with cattails and bulrushes. Cathryn and explain the process of harvesting and storing your cattails.

How-to sheet cane to a barrel backed chair--Jill Woods will demonstrate how to apply sheet cane or cane webbing to a barrel-back chair.

Synthetic Cane-- David Dick will talk about using synthetic cane. Addressing both cane quality issues and the use of alternatives such as synthetic cane when supplies are short and quality is low for natural cane.

How-to Weave Rush Corners--Rhonda Voos will demonstrate how to weave the corners on removeable seat frames.

Alternative Weaving Materials--We will have a variety of alternative weaving materials for fun and creative seat weaving exploring the modern side of seat weaving. Moving seat weaving into the future as well as preserving the age-old side of the craft.

Saturday Afternoon The annual members meeting and election of officers will be held after lunch.

Saturday Evening--The Annual Banquet of registrants will be held at the Glenn Community Center starting at 6:30 pm

Sunday MorningThe Glenn Community Center will be filled with helpful talks, fun competitive events for members. It’s a surprise!

Sunday Afternoon Open to the Public--The Old School House Museum, Douglas MI is open to the public with chair seating demonstrations and our Chair Seating Through the Ages exhibit in the garden from 1pm-4pm
