Hello - here is my basic information on Stephen Jarvis
Stephen Jarvis baptized All Saints Church, Malborough, 16 Mar 1762, son of John Jarvis and Sarah (Cranch) Jarvis. Married Ann Shearman 23 Dec 1784, Dartmouth. Trade at the time of marriage was shipwright but 15 years later on he was well known as a sailmaker. From 1785 through to 1807 he fathered 18 children of whom 8 died early in life. In 1815 - 1816 he produced his book of music '12 Psalm Tunes & 8 Anthems' dedicated to Rev. Roope Ilbert with whom he grew up with in Malborough. 1816 he had a failed voyage and finally in 1820, he, his wife, the 2 youngest unmarried daughters and newly married daughter and son-in-law, connected with a ship, Willen den Ersten, from the Isle of Guernsey and completed the voyage at the Port of Baltimore, USA. From there he ended up in St. Andrews, New Brunswick where he continued his trade. Some other family members joined him in St. Andrews in 1825 and continued to build the family business. He dies in St. Andrews 7 Nov 1834. His headstone is plain and the inscription is as previously stated. Picture is available.
