William Matthews query

Thanks for your interest in William Matthews, and his publications at the British Library.
Checking back, I looked at both the books mentioned in 2009 - 2010. The reference for the shelf mark for a reprint of Edwinstowe from "The Cherub", harmonised by Fred Blacow c. 1900, is incorrect, and should be G.518.l.(5.) using lower case l, not the figure 1, which I mis-transcribed from a sans-serif typeface, for which I apologise.
The details on my BL. reading room requests for the 'Four Hymns' by Matthews shows no 'No Title Entered', where the main title should appear. The shelf mark that is recorded is G.517.b.(9); I think that I must have had some help from the Music desk staff to order this, as a few things don't appear in the online catalogue, and they can usually be found with a bit of expert tweaking.
I will check what has happened next time I visit, and hope that a way in to the online catalogue can be made to work.
When WGMA visited Swanwick in Derbyshire in October 2010, I submitted settings of Risley, Sherwood, and Foundling to the music book, and I've checked that Mike Bailey is happy to supply you with the scores in pdf if you contact him by email.

Jonathan/Ros, I recall seeing the Matthews hymns for four voices last time I was looking at other music in the volume G.517.b. at the BL, and don't think the Matthews pieces had a title page - it... more
