She was giddy. Excited that it was parents night. At first she had been dreading it, until their brilliant plan anyway. It had been a joke at first. She'd sent him a letter and he'd responded and it went like that for some time, all the while getting slowly more and more serious to the point where it was pretty much "yeah! Yeah let's do that! We have to!" It was so... retro. So utterly perfect and rebellious! It was great for their image, and really... it would be ten times better than the alternative.
Although her real father would be there to of course.

Although things were starting to look up in the boy department for her (or really, more like man department), she really needed to get the hell away from her house for the summer. It was irritating staying there. Natalie would be home, and Asha wasn't even coming in, so there would be like...nobody fun at the house.
And when the alternative was jetting (not literally of course, wizards did not jet) off to Europe with her best friend in the whole entire world, there really was no contest.

She would have to be crazy!

She watched as her father walked across the floor with Seth and Jake. She lingered behind with her sister, but then Sophie was suddenly gone, leaving her standing alone. She was trying to see Kim somewhere, but then someone tapped her on the shoulder and she turned to find a goateed Cosar Rome.

She hugged him like crazy, and letting go, rocking back on her feet, still with her arms around him she grinned at him. Was he talking funny? She leaned up to kiss both his cheeks like she had seen the French do and purred out in her best British accent (because she couldn't speak French).

"Oh papa, that sounds absolutely maaarvelous."

Oh, this was just too brilliant. Her cheeks were hurting. Then, not being able to resist. "You've got something growing on your face." She reached out to touch the new facial hair. It suited him somehow... it was probably all the trouncing around gay bars. He seemed a bit different somehow.
And she was insanely jealous for being left behind.

  • Oh, daughter dearest!Cosar Rome Gregory Batrice, Fri Jul 16 5:00pm
The goatee he'd spent a month growing and the fedora didn't seem to be helping Cosar's attempt at looking like Arlis's father, but he had every intention to make it work. They had been planning this... more

"Excellent," Cosar beamed, barely able to keep a normal-sounding voice, much less put on an accent. He looped his arm into Arlis's, beginning to walk her around the edge of the Court, a great escape... more
        • You're a pretty snappy liar.Arlis , Thu Jul 22 1:25am
She felt like she belonged in some sort of Jane Austen novel, the way they were walking around the hall. She wanted a bustle. And her hair in curls, and a book in her other arm. Or Cosar. She held... more
          • I'm snappy. Yeah!Cosar, Sat Jul 24 1:17pm
He was incredibly flattered that Arlis thought he looked 'very European.' His family had mostly just teased him about running around Europe for fun for a year on an intern's salary, but he felt like... more

She felt a little bit disappointed when he didn't mention anything about Gilly, and for a moment she thought he might not like him. Is that what it was? If so, why was he not pointing out things... more
