Sarah Mason
I'm dreaming of a Green one
Mon Jul 26, 2010 6:29pm

Sarah had managed to go home for a dinner the week before Christmas. The idea to create a summoning object for herself came from the Muggle world as well as something Devon had created for Cassie. A pager, of sorts. Whenever the door opened in the Mercy Wing one of two alarms went off. The first was one that alerted her when she was in her private living space and the second was when she was out and about. The magical theory books had done wonders to her being able to make charms work for her in a more convenient way.

The beeper was a little plastic object. Just a square of a toy she'd recycled from her sister's house, but if someone was hurt and ended up in the Mercy Wing that would allow her to go directly to her office and see what was happening. It meant she was able to go home for Christmas too, but Sarah preferred to surprise her family, telling only Rose that she when she was going to be there. After the end of the previous year she just didn't trust what would happen if she'd made plans to go home.

Christmas she'd planned on staying put. She was a little lonely but she'd gone into the city in the morning to talk to her niece and nephew, Matt, Jake and the rest of her family. She was cold when she came back and spent the rest of the afternoon playing Christmas music while wrapping presents. She had one for Cassie that's she'd have to save. A beautiful tin with green label. It was something she found in a wizarding shop, but it would work for Cassie just fine. The instructions on the back said to take out a tea bag and just say what kind you wanted. The best variety pack out there.

If she'd been thinking, Sarah would have finished this early and sent both Cassie's and Madison Connors off to the Teslocks. On Madison's tag it said clearly "From Nurse Mason and Daisy", Madison being the only one to actually get something from the dog. A book on Quidditch. Sarah really hated to encourage the sport at all, but Madison talked of little else and she couldn't very well send her a pet. Not with the fear Erin and Devon apparently harbored. So the book would have to do. She'd just leave those in each of their rooms when she had the chance.

She'd also managed a bottle of wine for the Headmaster. That had been an easy choice, though she'd called Matt about which kind to get. He'd recommended "Marilyn Merlot Naked Grape". She'd shrugged at it and went to find some, letting that one be packaged at the store. When she came in, most everyone else was seated. She went to the Headmaster first. "Merry Christmas," she said with a smile, holding out the cellophane package where the cork was obviously sticking out, giving away any surprise had it been intended.

Of course there weren't any real places to sit near him, so she made her way to the other end of the table. That was perfectly fine, since Sarah had one last box. It was filled with chocolates that she'd made sure to get at her favorite Muggle shop when she'd gone to see her family. It was simple green wrapping with a white bow on the top. Green for Rakin. "Stuck here for the holiday?" she asked happily as she sat next to Eve. "Hope that helps at least," she said. "Merry Christmas."

She was definitely glad she'd decided to stay.
