Talkative vs. silent. Yup!
Thu Oct 7, 2010 9:19pm

Torn gave Slate a long, hard glance, suddenly wishing he paid more attention to what had been going on around him. Everyone seemed to have food on their plates, even Slate, and it looked like normal enough food. In the end, Torn leaned down toward his plate, keeping his eyes still on Slate, and mumbled lazily, “Ham and cheese sandwich.” The food appeared, just as requested. Torn quirked his eyebrows over toward the other boy, not that they were noticeable through his long, curly and messy hair.

“Torn,” he responded to Slate, glancing sidelong at the girl at the table. “I’m in Rakin,” he continued. He knew that was a good thing. The Rakin House. His parents gushed over it for a solid thirty minutes when he got his letter. Torn had no opinion on the matter.

The girl beside him was silent, but Slate seemed talkative enough; he did just sit at a table with two people he’d never met, after all. For now, Torn was just happy he didn’t have to sit at the table by himself, like most of the first years seemed to be doing.
