It was like one of those Spanish soap operas that Rosie, their cook, watched int he kitchen while she worked. Derek's eyes widened at each new piece of information. Jered was Chase... the school Nurse had a life outside of school... Austin had a different last name... what???

"Dude!" Derek was floored. This was cool news! So much better than his stupid summer. But he didn't want to think about that. And Austin had helped give him other things to concentrate on.

"Are they getting married then," he nodded towards Austin's brother and the nurse. Weird. Marriage. Relationships. What were his parents before they got married? His mom never worked, did she? She came from a wealthy Argentine family. And dad... people always said they looked alike, even though Derek had darker hair and skin. Had there been another person he was engaged to before Mom? How did they even meet? Derek suddenly wanted to know. He had a million questions, but no one that could answer.

"I can't believe I don't even know you. Dude, so not cool." Derek's tones didn't match the words. In all honesty, it was the first amusing thing since before summer.
