We'll have to come up here more often

“Je pense que non,” Eve responded easily, crossing her legs as she leaned back against a wall. This was way harder than she had anticipated. He kept telling her to fcuk off, and all she wanted to do was relate the same sentiments. However, the fact that this seemed to bother Devon—her acting seamlessly unfazed by his verbal abuse—did help a little.

Actually, Eve’s ammo came in the fashion of Devon’s confusion, his wariness. He was staring at her as though she were a ticking time bomb. It strengthened her and gave her a new reason in addition to Rand to continue on this way.

Eve had never before acted so serene. It was a weird feeling, in fact. She was utterly void of any tension. She probably looked rather demented, as well, because her smile never wavered. When Devon explained that they were drunk, Eve’s smile did weaken a little. “We were smashed?” she asked, intrigued. She couldn’t remember getting drunk with Devon anytime recently; the last time she had even drank around Devon was the night Kim Baden lost control of her sanity and let loose with a knife in hand.

Stretching her lips back up to their previous place, Eve let her teeth flash brightly at him. “Actually, it’s a lot more common than you think, this spell. Did you know the French Minister of Magic allows this spell on his children?”
