Don't expect me to hold your hand
Mon Nov 8, 2010 1:47pm

Jered gave a curt nod to Grace's answer about his chest, resisting the temptation to roll his eyes. Jered could guess who would mock him over something like that. Winnie. They had always been at each otherís throats in varying degrees and it appeared nothing had changed, just who was in charge of whom.

But then Grace said Sarah's name and Jered's jaw tightened. He could almost kick himself for starting the conversation. He should have just stayed quiet, helped out with the kids but stayed quiet! Now he had to battle his anger and not chew Grace's head off about involving Sarah in his games.

'She's fine,' he said tensely but sighed straight after. It was a lie. She was far from fine. Sure, she was putting on a brave face but Jered knew her. He could see it in the little things she did. She would jump at sounds that shouldn't make her have that kind of reaction. She was a little too pleased to see him after a few hours apart. She wanted to hold his hand constantly when they were together. It was nice, but it wasn't her. He had just gotten her back from the last time she'd set eyes on Dan. Now he had to calm her down all over again. He sighed again.

'She'll get over it,' Jered said after a few more minutes. 'She did last time. She just doesn't need that past dragged up again,' he added, looking at Grace with narrowed eyes, warning him silently.
