Devon and Mary
Well, not exactly---- Yes! Just that!
Sun Feb 6, 2011 12:46am

"Fantastic," Devon murmured, feeling at last somewhat more at ease. He'd been hoping the patent could come along faster, but Sarah was busy.

"Congrats!" Mary gushed.

Mary gave a nervous chuckle and turned to Devon, admitting guiltily, "Okay, maybe not."

Devon looked back at her, he raised his eyebrows. "She has it, does she?"

Devon failed to notice the intimacy of their exchange, but Mary had, and grinned at nothing. "Sarah," Devon tried again, kindly, feeling at least superior in his knowledge of the situation. "Mary is." He took a sip of coffee, and turned to Mary helplessly. "I'm at a loss."

"I can tell," Mary rolled her eyes. To Sarah, she waved her hand in explanation, "We've just been spending a lotta time together lately. I wanted to meet his friends. He says sure, we'll have breakfast with Sarah, I'll let her know. And now," here she turned to Devon with a pointed look, "I have to explain what I'm doing here. Devon."

He vaguely wondered what it was with women with dreadlocks, that they were so impertinent, so bossy. He was hiding behind his demi-tasse. "It's an extended visit," he said at last, with a guilty shrug.

"No," Sarah agreed between bites. "No, she doesn't particularly like shopping. But I'm sure she'd love to meet us for lunch." Maybe that wasn't a good idea. She'd talk to Cassie, though, and let her... more
