You let me know if you ever find a way!!
I have a rescue dog who i got about a year ago. She was so shy and scared we just wanted her to be happy, so we didn't discipline her, for fear it would make her retreat (and it did). So now i have a fence chasing, barking, manic!
I have heard over and over that once it starts and they receive no discipline…its 100 times more difficult.
Sometimes a spray bottle will work to get their attention, but bottom line you have to teach Tippy that the word “Shhhh” (or whatever word you want to use) means no more barking. Now…getting to where she knows that…is a long process. As I said above I still have not gotten there with my dog and she is not 2 years old, so I don’t know why I am even trying to answer your question! Ha ha, when I am laying in bed and Maddie is barking I always tell myself I am going to get one of those collars that sprays water in their face when they bark…but I don’t know how well that would work for a scared dog, not well im sure. If you make any progress be sure to let me know!
