Dinky is combing her book shelves to try and remember some.
It's been awhile but we remember being there.
Some she remembers and liked were.

Chet Geiko mysteries. (still loves these, very funny)
Magic School bus. All pretty easy reads but fun.
Time Cat
How about How to Train Your Dragon, we didn't read them but had a guy friend who loved them.
Arthur chapter books series, Dinky thought they were okay, not too babyish.
Hank the Cowdog was a big hit, around here. Our library had a full set.
Bernstein Bears Chapter books. "Some had ghost but they were always resolved in the end." per Dinky.
Our local librarian was a huge help in this area. She understood what I was looking for, with an advanced reader, and as time has progressed she has turned us onto some great books.
