I remember running across a group of teachers who had just been to a 'gifted' conference. I asked them what was the newest research and what did I need to know...
30 min. later they suggested that the conference was worthless and I should be a guest speaker next year because my personal experience was much more relevant to what they deal with in the class room... LOL!
There is a HS mom in our little town who has to be the expert on all things education, because of her 'advanced' degree. Not only do I disagree with her opinions I usually disagree with her technique as well. Just finally decided to be the one who stood up to her. She does not tend to hang out long once I show up to events. Good for you for being the voice.

Thanks for the suggestions. I responded to the group in a way that I hope clarifies and acknowledges that there are exceptions, while encouraging acceptance of those differences in a positive way. At ... more
