Barrel Lock Pin

John,

There is one thing that bothers me about this Model "D" and that is the Barrel Lock Pin, It is longer than any I have seen and/or have on my other guns (Letter Model) At first I thought it might have been fooled with but I am pretty certain the barrel has not been removed or this pin replaced but measured it is .680 in length and of the others I have they fall into a range of .640 to .660 and it just does not look right. (Keep in mind I do not have hundreds of these to compare to. I do have a stock of these pins and tomorrow I think I will measure the length of then to just see where they come out at)

Was there a spec for this? Do you know what it was? Is the one I have just happen to be longer then the rest of the ones I have? It just seems a bit out of place. But maybe it is just a little longer than others. Any comments here?

Thank you!

John, I am sorry I should have been more specific. With respect to the rear sight the base was fine I only had to replace the blade or part number 48. I had to loosen the screw under the slide to... more

Hello Tom, At this late date we can only speculate about why that pis is so long. It is easy to change pins without it being detectable but it should only be necessary if the barrel is changed or set ... more

John, Thank you for your thoughts. There is no real GOOD reason the 2 sets of lengths are in the same envelop and I believe some one just combined 2 types (Different length.) The pin and barrel do... more
