Malikhi was absolutely convinced that girls were some kind of different species to his own gender. The girl next to him had done a complete u-turn in her emotions and had now managed to compose herself and perk herself up. It was bizarre and Malikhi wondered if girl's emotions were some kind of magical force all of their own. When she explained that she was sad because she didn't get sorted with her only friend, he sort of understood but, at the same time, he didn't. Couldn't she just make new friends?

"Okay," he began, before putting some delicious creamy mashed potato in his mouth and swallowing. God, it was delicious. "I'm sure that being sorted with your friend would have been nice but the way I see it? Getting sorted into a different house is kind of good as well because you can make more friends which is a good thing."

He turned his eyes back to her, searching her face nervously for any more tears. He was a bit wary of her and didn't want her to burst into tears again. When he didn't find any trace of any, he let out a relieved sigh and gave her a broad grin instead. "If you want, I'll be your friend!"

For other people, making friends might not have been that easy but, for Malikhi, it truly was. It was just as simple as saying 'I like you, let's be friends'. He didn't understand why people had to complicate things.

He finally had a name to a face when she introduced herself as Evelyn and received another apology. He waved a dismissive hand about her apology and then stuck it out for a handshake. "I'm Malikhi. Malikhi Hill and now, you have another friend!"
