Evelyn smiled and copied her new friend by shoveling mashed potatoes and roast onto her plate. She did cast one furtive glance around the room to see if she could spot Ness at the Alandren table, but only spent a moment. In that moment, she decided firmly that she would still be friends with Ness, and that she wasn't going to let fear rule her here. Of course, the prospect of living fearlessly sounded terrifying.

"I like your perspective, Malikhi," she replied, doing her best to copy his pronunciation. He'd been nice to her, the least she could do was say his name correctly.

Evelyn wasn't convinced that he was being friendly because he wanted to be friends, and couldn't push aside the worry that he was just trying to make her stop crying, but decided not to dwell on it. The food was delicious and she maybe had two friends now.

"Are you excited to be here?" she asked, glad to finally have an answer she was comfortable with if he returned the question. "You're excited for food at least!"

She took several large bites, surprised at how hungry she was after having eaten so much in the gardens just a little while before.

"This is amazing," she groaned. Salad, corn, roast mushrooms, and an assortment of other goods found their way to her plate. She hoped she wasn't too disgusting, consuming such quantities at once, but anyone who was as excited about a feast as Malikhi seemed unlikely to judge her.

Taking a breath, she sat back enough to see his face comfortably, and waited for his answer.
