Mary Brooding
Only if you leave without me.

If Mary hadn't felt like she stood out before, she certainly did now. It wasn't in the positive, 'Wow, you look great in olive!' sort of stand out, but the, 'Wow, you have beautiful friends!' way. As her new friend took the empty seat beside her, Mary couldn't help thinking she was sitting beside a snow queen, while she herself looked like an actual olive, rather than just wearing the appropriate shade of green.

Despite Tabitha's beauty, she seemed obviously uncomfortable. Mary, however, quite enjoyed the spotlight, and smiled happily at the students. If she was honest, they weren't paying too much attention to the staff table anyway.

Mary hummed a bit, the school song stuck in her head, as she leaned towards the food in front of her and took a large scoop of jello pudding. She wasn't sure how the school-- whomever prepared the food at school at least-- had known it was her favorite thing to eat, but she was glad they had. She was quite sure jello pudding was not an actual meal item, but it would suffice whens he was feeling far too bubbly to eat anything else. Although, eyeing a nearby green bean casserole made her second guess this assertion. She took a scoop of that as well.

When Tabitha leaned over and asked about escaping, Mary chuckled. She wanted to laugh, but thought it might embarrass the Defense mistress, who was clearly not enjoying the spotlight as much as Mary was.

"Quite so," she replied. She thought for a moment before reaching out to place an arm gently around Tabitha's shoulders. She hoped desperately the touch would be okay.

Providing one light squeeze before moving to pull her arm away, Mary lowered her tone into one more conspiratorial. "I've worn heels I simply can't run in and there's no way you're going without me!"
